Ever look around and feel like everything needs tidying... so you do nothing at all?
Same.
This week, I wanted to share a super simple formula that I come back to whenever the clutter starts creeping in. And the best part? It only takes 15 minutes.
It’s my “One Surface, One Basket, One Timer” formula:
- Pick one surface: a nightstand, kitchen counter, coffee table.
- Grab one basket or bin for things that don’t belong.
- Set a 15-minute timer and go!
Wipe it down, toss what you don’t need, re-home what’s out of place, and stop when the timer goes off. That’s it! You’ll be amazed at how even one small area can shift the energy of a whole room. (And if you want to keep going? That’s totally up to you.)
Want a cozy bonus tip? Light a candle or pop on a playlist while you tidy! Make it feel like a little self-care ritual instead of a chore.
Hit reply and tell me what surface you’re tackling today, or tag me on Instagram Stories (@cozydiyhome) so I can cheer you on! 🎉
You've got this,

This Genius Stair Basket Is the Decluttering Hack You Didn’t Know You Needed
Meet the prettiest way to deal with the “pile of shame” that lives on your stairs. This 14-inch wicker stair basket is a total game-changer. It's made from sturdy seagrass, it tucks neatly onto your steps and holds all the stuff that needs to go upstairs later. (Shoes, socks, forgotten toys, random socks… you know the drill.)
Instead of clutter getting kicked around or stacked messily on the steps, it’s all contained in a natural woven basket that actually adds charm. Plus, the built-in handles make it super easy to grab and go when you finally head up.
