You know I'm usually the first person to tell you that you DON'T need to spend a fortune to make your home beautiful.

I'll DIY it. I'll thrift it. I'll find the Amazon version. I'll even wander Dollar Tree / Dollarama looking for something I can make look expensive for $5.

But... there are a few things in my home that I genuinely think are worth spending more on!

Inspired by the “5 things I think are worth the money” trend I've been seeing on Instagram, here are mine... home edition!

1. High quality linen bedding

I am absolutely biased here 😂 but once I started sleeping in linen and linen-blend bedding, it was very hard to go back.

It has that relaxed, cozy, slightly rumpled look that I LOVE, but it's also breathable and gets softer with use. This is one of those things you touch and use every single night, so I think beautiful bedding is worth spending a little more on.

If you're in Canada, I obviously love the linen-cotton bedding from my own Cozy Prairie Linens Co. collection. And if you're outside Canada, I've also found a highly rated cotton linen bedding option on Amazon here (affiliate link).

2. A washable area rug in the RIGHT size

Here's where I think the “splurge” is actually about size.

Please don't buy the tiny rug because it's $200 cheaper! I have made this mistake!

In a living room, I like a rug large enough that at LEAST the front legs of your furniture can sit on it. And, if the room allows, all the furniture legs.

A properly sized rug makes the entire room feel more finished and expensive.

And for real life? I love a washable one. Pets, kids, coffee... enough said. Here's the rug I love & have in my living room (affiliate link).

3. A high-quality bed frame

I used to think a bed frame was one of those things you could just find the cheapest version of and call it a day.

I've totally changed my mind.

I LOVE my upholstered storage bed (affiliate link). It makes our entire bedroom feel more finished, gives us extra hidden storage, and it's something we obviously use every single day. If you're not in Canada, here's a similar bed frame (affiliate link).

For a piece of furniture that has to support you for approximately eight hours a night, I think it's worth buying one you genuinely love!

4. A robot vacuum/mop

THIS ONE.

This is the thing I rave about to my friends ALL. THE. TIME. Seriously!

Our robot vacuum/mop (affiliate link) is one of those purchases that genuinely makes my everyday life easier. It keeps up with the daily dust, crumbs and pet hair without me having to pull out the vacuum constantly.

Is it cheap? No.

Would I buy it again? Immediately. I want another one for our basement.

For me, anything that gives me some of my time back is worth considering a splurge. And I hardly have to maintain it at all, which is another huge bonus.

5. An espresso machine

Hear me out... this one might actually SAVE you money in the long run!

If you love fancy coffees, having a good espresso machine at home means you can make your dream latte, iced coffee or whatever hyper-specific coffee order you love without buying it out every day.

I love making coffee at home, and there's something about a really good homemade latte in my favourite mug that makes an ordinary morning feel a little more special.

The funny thing is, I think being budget-conscious has actually made me MORE willing to splurge on certain things.

If I use it every day, it makes my home noticeably more comfortable, or the cheaper version has disappointed me three times already... sometimes I'd rather just buy the good one.

Here's the automatic espresso machine I have, love, and use multiple times a day. (affiliate link)

This Week’s Top Find

We're wrapping up our new firepit outside, and I can't wait to use it! Our teenagers are excited to invite some friends over and roast marshmallows. Something we're definitely adding to the area are some solar string lights. I brought these particular lights camping a couple weeks ago, and they're bright & beautiful! A definite summer must-have for the perfect, cozy ambiance.

My pick this week:

Outdoor Solar Lights with a Remote & Timer (affiliate link)

Now I'm curious: what's one thing in YOUR home you think is absolutely worth the splurge?

Hit reply and tell me! I have a feeling I'm going to get some good ideas from you!

Have a great week,
