Hi friend,
Have you ever cleaned a room, stepped back… and it still felt a little off?
Not messy.
Not ugly.
Just… not quite finished.
I see this all the time, and the good news is that it's usually not the big things causing the problem. It’s a handful of little details most of us overlook.
If your home has been feeling almost-there lately, these are the first places I’d check.
First: curtain height
This one is huge. When curtains are hung too low or too short, a room instantly feels less polished.
An easy fix? Hang your curtain rod higher and wider than the window frame whenever you can. It visually lifts the ceiling and makes everything feel more designer without buying new furniture or repainting a thing.
Second: lighting warmth
Even beautifully decorated rooms can feel flat under the wrong bulbs.
If your space feels a bit stark at night, try switching to warm white bulbs (around 2700K). It’s one of the fastest ways to add that cozy, welcoming glow we’re all after, especially in living rooms and bedrooms.
Third: styling gaps
Sometimes a space feels unfinished simply because one area is under-styled while everything else looks complete.
Think:
- an empty tray on the coffee table
- a bare mantel
- or a lonely surface that needs a small grouping
Try incorporating the "Rule of Three" (Triangle Method) in these areas:
You don’t need more stuff, just a more thoughtful arrangement of what you already have.
These are the kinds of small shifts I focus on inside my Cozy Formula, because they create that calm, pulled-together feeling without overspending or starting a big project.
